Lose Weight Fast by Fast Weight Loss Diets — Are you ready?

July 28th, 2010 by

Fast weight loss diets are popular because they promise quick weight loss with little effort. While some of these weight loss plans are not healthy, and can even be dangerous, there are some fast weight loss diets that can actually work. The key is to find a diet plan that stresses healthy eating habits instead of indicating that a person must only eat a certain food group or cut calories to dangerous levels in order to lose the weight. Here are a few helpful hints to help you decide when searching for a diet plan that will fit your lifestyle best.

Being healthy is important – Fast weight loss diets should be safe or they are not worth trying. A safe diet should include all daily recommended allowances of vitamins and minerals, as well as protein and fiber. Not following nutritional guidelines can lead to malnourishment and other long term health problems.

Get enough calories- It is very important to not cut your calories too low. By cutting your calories to less than 1,000 per day for woman and 1,600 per day for men, you can cause irreversible harm to your body. Never go below this number per day or for long periods of time. Cutting your calories too low can cause your metabolism to malfunction, thereby stalling your weight loss efforts. It can also cause many other side effects that can do more harm than good.

Eating fruit and veggies – If you find fast weight loss diets that stress eating fruits and vegetables, they are probably going to work well for you while making sure you are not jeopardizing your health. Fruits and veggies provide many vitamins, minerals, and fiber which are required for optimal health.

Low fat is what you should aim at – Low fat diets stress the negativity of fats in the diet. While it is true that the body does need a little bit of fat every day, consuming even a moderate amount of fat per day can lead to many health problems, including heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure and more.

Taking dairy product is important- low fat dairy products are actually good for you, contrary to what some diet experts say. Dairy is great for curbing the appetite, provides much needed calcium to the body. Studies show that by consuming foods such as yogurt, cheese, and milk can slow the formation of fat cells and boosts the metabolism.

Eat moderate meat- or at least some kind of protein. Protein helps the body to build and repair tissue and muscles, make hormones and other imperative functions throughout the body. Remember though, that too much animal protein can cause damage to some of our vital organs, and should only be eaten in moderation, if at all.

Be sure to research the diet you choose before deciding on any diet. As always, before trying any of these or other fast weight loss diets, it is very important to visit your doctor so that you can be sure you are healthy enough to diet in this way.

We all know that vegetarian cooking is healthy but can something that is good for us also be fun? I want to show you that heatlhy vegetarian cooking can be fun to do and fun to eat.

When we are cooking for children it can be important to be able to make food fun. Even if we want to prepare a meal for ourselves or friends it can add lot to meal if we can make it fun.

Perhaps the most obvious way to make a vegetarian meal fun is to barbecue. A cook out will always be fun, even when it rains. But can vegetarian food be barbecued? The answer to that is yes.

Many vegetables can be grilled on the barbecue. Fresh corn cobs barbecue well, as do peppers. These can be laid directly on the bars of the grill. Tomatoes should be pierced with a sharp knife first to prevent them exploding. Vegetables such as potatoes can be wrapped in aluminum foil and cooked more slowly at the edge of the grill. The same technique can be adopted with many other root vegetables.

Baked carrots, parsnips and sweet potatoes are all delicious done in this way. You can coat them in oil first, add some thyme and garlic cloves and wrap them up in foil parcel. You may like to add some balsamic vinegar to get a really rich taste. Younger palates may prefer a honey glaze.

Instead of burgers and other meat products you can make burgers out of cooked beans. Simply mash a selection of different coloured beans such as cannellini beans and kidney beans and form them into patties. A little egg may be used to help them hold their shape. They can be seasoned with salt and pepper, fresh herbs, chopped onion, garlic and chilli.

Cook them briefly on either side until they are brown and serve them on a bun with tomato relish and pickles. You may use a bought burger bun, but it also possible to make bread over a barbecue. simply wrap some bread dough around a stick and place it over the grill. It will rise and cook into a sort of curly bread stick. Children love doing this.

Even if the weather is too bad to cook out of doors making bread must rate as one of the most fun ways to cook vegetarian food. An afternoon spent in the kitchen with the smells of new baked bread counts as one of life’s great experiences.

Add a simple vegetarian salad or a soup and you have a complete meal. Add a bottle of wine and you have a supper for friends.

What about desert? Always remember that chocolate is a vegetarian food. A fondue of cheese sauce and a selection of fruits, cakes and biscuits to dip into it will make the perfect end to a vegetarian meal.

Low Fat Recipe Guide

July 9th, 2010 by

Sexy, figure hugging clothes are all the rage nowadays, and it seems that most fashion trends are keen on emphasizing the figure. That is why it is no wonder that most people, especially women, are looking for ways to slim and to stay thin.

Going to the gym and exercise programs have always helped people to keep their bodies in good shape. Working out usually entails body-building and muscle enhancement for a more shapely, toned and muscular body.

Some people, on the other hand, observe reducing diets that usually involve a controlled intake of food. One of the more popular diets is the low-fat diet which insists on a strict adherence to consuming a minimal amount of fattening foods.

Low-fat diets have gained such a large number of followers because they have been featured in a great number of television shows, commercials, on the internet, and so on. Even governments have produced guidelines on what we should be eating, especially in relation to fat. In general, the guidelines say that the total fat intake should only constitute 20% to 35% of the total calorie intake, and only 10% of calories should come from saturated fats that are found in animal products. 10% of the fats we eat should come from fish, nuts, olive oil and spreads. These are the so-called monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fats. These types of fats are beneficial to our bodies and can actually improve our health.

Another important point is that cholesterol intake should be kept to a level of less than 300mg per day, and if meat products cannot be avoided, these should be lean, low-fat or even fat-free. The same thing goes for poultry and dairy foods, also. Basically, we need to limit our oil intake to six teaspoons a day, including those used in salad dressings and mayonnaise.

These guidelines are fairly specific, and make a great deal of sense, but adhering to them, especially when surrounded by mouthwatering food, is easier said than done. However, there are actually a great number of low-fat recipes that make for really enjoyable meals.

Low fat recipes usually involve lots of grains, fruits and vegetables. They do not require you to become a vegan, but it may help if you already are one. However, if you are not a vegan, there still are some low fat recipes that you can use to create great tasty dishes.

My personal favorite is the Al Fresco Chicken Sausage. This chicken sausage, though largely a meat-based product, has 75% less fat than a regular sausage. Also, it has less than 10g of carbohydrates per sausage. It is very convenient to include this sausage in a low carbohydrate and low fat meal. Since most sausages contain a lot of preservatives, you might think the same goes for Al Fresco, but incredibly, this chicken sausage does not contain any preservatives or other artificial ingredients. These sausages make especially tasty and healthy meals for children. I really enjoy eating Al Fresco Chicken Sausages for breakfast, and find them to be especially good with apple maple syrup. This may be an unusual combination, but believe me, it is so delicious that I can eat it every morning and never tire of it. Al Fresco have a lot of different varieties that make for all sorts of really good recipes.

Aside from Al Fresco meals, there are lots of low fat recipes to choose from. All you have to do is find out what you enjoy best, and constantly try out new healthy ingredients and dishes that will enhance your low-fat cooking. Good luck!

three ) to enrich your recipe, you may also prepare ’salsas’, which are nothing apart from straightforward mixes of your favorite vegetables, boiled or saut, and served warm or cold.

The White Fish, for example haddock and cod, are a low calorie food. remember that dipping the fillets in batter, deep frying them, or shallow-frying in bread crumbs will cancel the low calorie benefits of these fish dishes. Therefore [*COMMA] always prefer baking or poaching the fish in a savory stock.

Everything About Gourmet Cooking Revealed

July 2nd, 2010 by

People often think that gourmet cooking consists of a series of elaborate dishes of the kind that can only be found in top restaurants. It is thought of as a kind of cooking that is difficult to do and just as difficult to eat.

Gourmet cooking is felt to be something best avoided by the majority of people because it is too expensive and surrounded by social snobbery. Gourmet cooking is for the rich and those who have more money than sense.

That image of gourmet cooking dates back to the nineteenth century when French chefs dominated the industry. The best restaurants and the richest households employed French chefs.

Those chefs were trained in a rigorous system that aimed to keep professional secrets within a tightly knit group. The chef’s livelihood depended on maintaining his craft exclusivity. Equally his employer’s status depended on the exclusivity of the chef.

Today cooking is much more democratic. Few young chefs today would tolerate the kind of ritual humiliation that apprentice chefs suffered in old fashioned kitchens. Television chefs have demonstrated their skills before a wide public and college courses offer intensive training in arts once the preserve of elite kitchens.

As more people dine out on a regular basis the snobbery once associated with restaurants has become a thing of the past. The restaurant that allows its waiters to be rude to the customers will soon go out of business.

The food that is considered to be gourmet food has also changed. In the past the idea of gourmet food was to get as far as way as possible from peasant food. Today the same peasant dishes are likely to be on the menu of top restaurants. Simplicity and natural taste is everything. The rich sauces and elaborate dishes of old style gourmet food have been swept away.

A simple bruschetta made of a slice of bread covered in tomato sauce and toasted could be considered gourmet food. Yet a few centuries ago the same food would have been eaten by poor people.

The key thing in gourmet food today is the quality of the ingredients and the integrity of the final dish. If the bread is made with unbleached flour without any of the additives ususally found in commercially made bread, allowed to rise slowly and baked in a wood fired oven then you are off to a good start. The sauce should, of course, be freshly made not out of a far. It should be made from tomatoes with the best flavour not the tasteless varieties that are usually found on the supermarket shelves. It should be well seasoned with garlic and fresh herbs.

A dish prepared in that way will be something out of ordinary. It will justifiably rate as gourmet food although it is, in itself, very simple and demands no special skills to make it.
